What you will do:
- Work in a cross-functional team with product managers, analysts and developers on a high-load telecom platform
- Review requirements and use cases early, and flag gaps, ambiguities, and edge cases before development starts
- Own test planning for features: planning, test design, execution, follow-up, and reporting
- Test APIs and integrations across microservices, verifying the full data flow
- Plan and run performance and load tests using JMeter, and analyze results
- Develop automated tests across layers (component, integration, E2E) using Java 21, JUnit 5, REST Assured, Testcontainers, WireMock, and Allure
- Maintain and stabilize existing test suites in CI
- Run regression testing and triage failures
- Maintain test documentation in Jira, Zephyr, and Confluence
Qualifications and experience needed:
- 4+ years of relevant working experience as a QA Engineer with a backend focus
- Strong backend testing experience: verifying end-to-end data flow between services, databases and message brokers, not only HTTP responses
- Solid Java test automation skills and experience integrating tests into CI pipelines
- Practical Kafka experience: producing and consuming test messages, verifying async processing, and understanding consumer groups
- Performance testing experience: designing load profiles, running tests, and interpreting latency, throughput, and error rate
- Excellent requirements analysis skills — identifying gaps and ambiguities before development starts
- Strong test design skills and experience writing test strategies and test plans
- SQL knowledge: complex queries with joins and aggregations, data integrity checks
- Linux/UNIX command line: log analysis, basic bash
- Practical skills with Git: branching, merging, code review
- Experience isolating dependencies with WireMock, MockServer, or similar tools
- Knowledge of TCP, HTTP
- Understanding of client-server and microservices architectures: inter-service communication, failure points, idempotency
- Good knowledge of Postman, IntelliJ IDEA, Atlassian stack (Jira, Confluence, Zephyr), GitLab, Kibana, Grafana
- Higher technical education or equivalent relevant experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced Agile environment in close collaboration with the development team
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, a critical mindset, and clear communication
- English at Intermediate level or higher (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
- Telecom domain experience: billing, charging, provisioning
- Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Docker, Kubernetes
- High-load systems experience
