Who we are:

Adaptiq is a technology hub specializing in building, scaling, and supporting R&D teams for high-end, fast-growing product companies in a wide range of industries.

About the Product:

The product is a software platform for programmable networking hardware used in high-performance data center environments.
At its core is a compiler toolchain that enables developers to program specialized networking devices. The toolchain translates high-level programming constructs into hardware-executable instructions, taking into account device architecture, resource limitations, and performance requirements.
The product combines complex systems programming with compiler engineering and networking technologies, offering opportunities to solve challenging problems at the intersection of software and hardware.

About the Role:

This is a hands-on compiler engineering role with ownership of a defined part of the toolchain. The scope can span language design, compiler implementation, allocation algorithms, assembler work, and low-level code generation. You will make technical decisions in your area and implement them, rather than hand off designs to a separate execution team.

The team works remotely and responds to evolving hardware requirements. You will need to identify changes that affect the toolchain, work with colleagues in hardware and software disciplines, and turn those changes into working compiler support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and develop a component of the compiler toolchain for programmable networking hardware.
  • Design and implement programming-language constructs that expose hardware capabilities through usable interfaces.
  • Develop compiler passes and algorithms for mapping programs onto constrained hardware resources, including table and register allocation.
  • Investigate allocation failures or unexpected compiler behavior and improve the underlying algorithms.
  • Work on lower-level tooling, including assembly generation, assembler components, and conversion to device-executable code.
  • Evaluate hardware performance characteristics and optimize generated code or resource use accordingly.
  • Translate requirements for new hardware capabilities into toolchain changes.
  • Account for data-plane architecture and control-plane interaction when making compiler and language-design decisions.
  • Collaborate with a distributed team, independently identifying and following through on work relevant to your area of ownership.

Required Competence and Skills:

  • Practical knowledge of software-defined networking, including data-plane architecture and control-plane design.
  • Experience developing compilers and working on programming-language design.
  • Proficiency in modern C++ (such as C++17 or C++20), Python, and systems programming.
  • Ability to reason about compiler behavior in the context of hardware constraints and networking requirements.
  • Ability to take ownership of technically complex work in a fully remote, distributed team.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of or experience with the P4 programming language.
  • Compiler development experience within the LLVM infrastructure; familiarity with MLIR or GCC is also relevant.
  • Understanding of packet-processing pipelines, match-action hardware architectures, or run-to-completion models.
  • Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
  • Experience using frontier coding models, such as Opus, Fable, Astra, or GPT6.

Why Us:

We provide 20 days of vacation leave per calendar year (plus official national holidays of a country you are based in).

We provide full accounting and legal support in all countries we operate.

We utilize a fully remote work model with a powerful workstation and co-working space in case you need it.
