DevOps Engineer
Senior AI DevOps Engineer
ExpoPlatform is a UK-based company founded in 2013, delivering advanced technology for online, hybrid, and in-person events across 30+ countries. Our platform provides end-to-end solutions for event organizers, including registration, attendee management, event websites, and networking tools.
The role
We’re looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who runs infrastructure the AI-native way. You’ll own our AWS platform end to end, and you’ll do it with AI agents as part of your daily toolkit: writing and reviewing infrastructure code, investigating incidents, finding root causes and automating the work nobody should be doing by hand.
This is not a ticket-taking role. We want someone who sets the direction for how a modern platform is built and operated, and who makes our engineers faster and our systems calmer during peak event season, when thousands of attendees depend on us at the same time.
What you’ll do
Platform and infrastructure
- Own and evolve our AWS infrastructure, with a clear plan for scalability, resilience and cost.
- Rebuild and maintain infrastructure as code with AWS CDK and Terraform, so every environment can be recreated from code.
- Run and scale container workloads on Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, Fargate and Docker.
- Manage IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager and key rotation with a security-first mindset.
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, CodeDeploy).
- Keep MySQL, PostgreSQL and ClickHouse healthy under high load.
- Keep our infrastructure ISO 27001 compliant: implement and maintain controls, collect audit evidence and support internal and external audits.
AI-native operations
- Use AI agents (Claude Code, Codex and similar) to write, review and refactor IaC, pipelines and runbooks.
- Build AI-assisted incident workflows: alert triage, log and metric analysis, root-cause investigation and post-mortem drafts.
- Turn repeated operational work into automations, agents and MCP-based tools the whole team can use.
- Set guardrails so AI can act on infrastructure safely: least privilege, approvals, audit trails and human review where it matters.
Reliability and incidents
- Define SLOs, alerting and observability that catch problems before clients do.
- Lead incident response, from first alert to post-mortem and follow-up fixes.
- Prepare the platform for peak event traffic and run regular disaster recovery tests.
Collaboration
- Work closely with developers, QA and engineering leadership to improve developer experience and delivery speed.
- Document architecture and decisions through RFCs and ADRs.
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years of hands-on DevOps, SRE or platform engineering for production systems with real traffic and real stakes.
- Deep AWS expertise (EKS, ECS, RDS, Lambda, Route53, EC2, Auto Scaling, DynamoDB, CodeDeploy). You know the trade-offs, not just the console.
- Production experience with Kubernetes: cluster design, Helm, autoscaling, networking and upgrades.
- Strong AWS CDK (TypeScript preferred) or Terraform skills with solid IaC practices: modules, state, drift and testing.
- You already work AI-native: you use AI agents daily for infrastructure code, debugging and incident analysis, and you can show workflows or tools you built.
- Understanding of how LLMs behave in practice and the risks of letting them touch production.
- Strong observability background (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry or similar).
- Solid MySQL and PostgreSQL operations; ClickHouse experience is a strong plus.
- Good scripting in Bash, Python or TypeScript.
- Deep understanding of networking, security, autoscaling and serverless architectures, plus hands-on experience running infrastructure under ISO 27001 (or SOC 2) compliance.
- You stay calm in incidents, communicate clearly and own problems until they’re fixed.
- Fluent technical English.
Nice to have
- AWS Professional or Kubernetes (CKA/CKS) certifications.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service tooling.
- Experience with n8n, MCP servers or agent frameworks.
We offer you more than just a new job title
- Real ownership of the platform and a direct say in its architecture.
- Access to leading AI tools and the freedom to try new ones.
- Fast professional growth within an international, high-impact team.
- A product with global demand, used by major event organizers in 30+ countries.
- Financial stability and a competitive salary.
- Flexible working hours (Mon-Fri, 8h/day).
- Free English courses and a collaborative, friendly atmosphere.
